Birding El Quelele Lagoon: The Ameca River carves out creeks, smaller rivers, mangroves and lagoons perfect for a huge variety of water fowl. In the most wildlife dense part of the Ameca River you will find the protected El Quelele Lagoon is aptly named for the Quelele, or Crested Caracara that frequent the lagoon. Aside from birds, you can also spot raccoons & coatimundis on land, or turtles and even crocodiles sunbathing on the banks of the river.
