Birds of Tropical Paradise + Botanical Gardens Tour Recommendations:
Children: Birding is a great family activity and kids ages 4 to 11 pay a discounted price!
Cruise Ship Passengers: Birding enthusiasts know that the best bird watching action is first thing in the morning as the sun is just peaking up over the Sierra Madre’s. However we are happy to accommodate some cruise ship groups with the understanding that the number of birds may not be great later in the day.
Insider Tip: Use olive oil as a bug repellent, it is eco-friendly and works like a charm! The mosquitos up at the Botanical Gardens are not your average mosquitos, they are tiny little vampires that tend to attack ankles, knees and other joints viciously. Regular bug repellent works ok, but the oil based ones are best. They sell a good one at the Botanical Gardens, but I have found plain olive oil (available at most small mini-marts here in a tiny green plastic bottle) is the cheapest and also the best solution.
