Cabo San Lucas Fishing Calendar
Cabo San Lucas Fishing Seasons
January
Visit Cabo in January, and you will enjoy some of the best weather of the year. This is usually a dry month, with average temperatures in the mid 70s. Striped Marlin is common, Roosterfish is inshore and Yellowfin Tuna is offshore.
February
The conditions are good but spring storms are a possibility. Watch out for colder currents arriving from the north, potentially making fishing change from day to day. Inshore fishing is very good and the bottom bite heats up offshore.
March
Spring Break sees great conditions in Cabo San Lucas with very little rain. The Marlin bite can slow but will come back into play towards the end of the month. Yellowtail, Amberjacks, and Spanish Mackerel show up inshore.
April
With temperatures in the mid 80s and humidity generally lower than usual, April has great conditions with virtually no rain. You will find Striped Marlin and Dorado biting offshore, with smaller Dorado, Yellowtail, and some Roosterfish inshore.
May
The weather really begins to heat up now. Offshore, you will find a good Striped Marlin bite, with very good Dorado action too. Closer to shore, the Roosterfish season begins to kick off for real.
June
With water temperatures averaging 94 degrees, this is a month for those who like it hot. Fish offshore for Striped Marlin, big Tuna, Blue Marlin, and Wahoo. Inshore, Roosterfish is on fire and Snappers and Groupers are biting.
July
On average, July is the warmest month in Cabo and the fishing is hot, too. This is a month for Billfish fans, with Striped Marlin, Sailfish, and Blue Marlin all being potential catches. Very big Roosterfish can be caught inshore.
August
You guessed it - it's hot. August is the wettest month of the year, but don't let that put you off. This is the month for big game anglers, with Black and Blue Marlin coming into the mix. Inshore, Wahoo and Dorado join Roosterfish.
September
Tropical storms may threaten, but when the weather allows, this is one of the best months for fishing. You will find big Yellowfin Tuna, Blue and Black Marlin, and Sailfish to name a few. Sailfish and Roosterfish can be caught inshore.
October
The world famous Bisbees Black and Blue Tournament is the talk of the town: this is something no sportfishing fan will want to miss. With cooler weather and big fish, this is the best fishing month in Cabo San Lucas.
November
Temperatures and humidity drop. Don't miss the WON Tuna Jackpot at the beginning of the month. Fishing remains varied, with Striped Marlin replacing Blacks and Blues and Sailfish, Dorado, and Wahoo bites being very strong.
December
If you want to land a lot of different species in one day, December is the month for you. The main target is Striped Marlin, with Wahoo, Dorado, Yellowfin Tuna also being good. Inshore, you may find Sailfish and smaller Striped Marlin.
